Atin joined the Nature Microbiology team in June 2024 and is based in the Berlin office. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biotechnology at Panjab University, India and received a PhD in Molecular Biology from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, studying RNA-based regulation of drug resistance in bacteria. He then conducted postdoctoral research at The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS), the Swedish node of the Nordic EMBL partnership in Umeå, working on the development of methods for identification of new fitness factors in bacteria. Atin is also a consulting editor for npj Biofilms and Microbiomes
