Dr. Chen got his PhD degree on Cell Biology from Peking University and did his postdoc training at Yale. He joined the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences, Fudan University as an indepedent PI in 2022. Dr. Chen (1) illuminated microbiota secreted bioactive metabolites can activate host G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs),exerting diverse (patho)physiological effects on host (Chen et al., Cell, 2019); (2) developed a novel GPCR activity based highly multiplexed screening system named as PRESTO-Salsa, revealing human/microbiome metabolome-GPCRome interactions (Chen et al., Cell, 2023). Both of these studies provide new perspective and technology for comprehensive understanding of the microbiota-host interactions.
