Tanweer Khan is a microbiologist with 15 years of gut microbiota research experience, known for discoveries like ‘the gas tube’ and the Simulated Human Intestinal Redox Model (SHRIM).Tanweerr secured PhD, with ''cum laude'' distinction from The University of Groningen. He secured several patents and founded Metabogen, Roxbiosens, and Implexion Pharma, focusing on probiotic development and clinical trials. His recent publication in Nature on Extremely Oxygen-Sensitive (EOS) probiotics marks a significant advancement in the field. He is currently affiliated with University of Gothenburg Sweden, University of Groningen, The Netherlands and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research).

We developed innovative technology to produce next-generation probiotics for human onsumption from extremely oxygen sensitive human gut bacteria. In the article we describe the production of a formulation containing the anti inflammatory Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, which is a dominant human gut bacterium, depleted in both inflammatory bowel diseases and metabolic diseases.
